I
design with a fire to see an aura of beauty around myself, in the world
I live in.
Clothes for me are the epitome of inner grace and for that matter they
don’t have to be expensive. They can transform a human figure, add an
ethereal dimension to realism they are visionary and timeless. They are
a spiritual relationship with an ambiance. They are the essence of nostalgia,
the fragrance of the present, and the dream of the future. When I sketch
clothes I design a trance made of moments of the past and present, and
project them as valuables that people would cherish. To me these clothes
are sacred as they enclose the temple of the human form. I have sketched
clothes for ten years interpreted them as silhouettes, as embroideries,
as surface textures with the sensibility of a painter and filmmaker. I
have designed to provide a vocation in my village, Kotwara, to upgrade
the craft of Chikan and Zardozi in my city, Lucknow and its environs.
